Its always the way! Energy Assessors in the UK desperately need someone in their corner like Christine Milne in Australia - vocal, decisive and making sure that the assessors are protected and the work gets done re energy saving.
Seb, this is an issue that has taken a long time to get sorted, but with the release of the recent SORs (Scheme Operating Requirements) it has been addressed.
The "simple" solution as you put it, is far from that. One of the major problems is that a "Bob Smith" on one scheme may be a "Robert Smith" on another, or "Mr B T Smith" on another etc etc. Hence, Landmark have now identified all the unique assessors, and when an assessor is suspended on one scheme, all other schemes that the assessor is accredited with are informed of that suspension.
By the way there are 17 accreditation schemes, can you name them all? There are over 14,000 unique registered assessors.
Thank you for your reply Philip.
Some of these figures are mind boggling: 17 Accreditation scheme's. I could only come up with 10 and 14,000 unique assessors, that is even more than I expected.
This has a massive impact on our industry and it must be more frustrating for you/Quidos, but at least this is sorted. Do you know when this will come into force?
Hi Charlotte,
Thank you for your reply, I think DEAs should vote to get Christine Milne here! DEAs should get some to fight their corner
It takes 280 watts of electricity to purify every litre of drinking water in the UK. What a waste of energy when half of this water could be rainwater.

This comment was sent to me by DECC:
Dear Seb
Many thanks for your tweet and for sharing your film with us. I’ve passed it through to my Fuel Poverty policy colleagues, who were happy to see it and had the following comments:
“Fuel poverty is a really important issue and we were pleased to see your film which highlights this. DECC has a range of policies in place to meet the challenge of tackling fuel poverty and we’ve recently announced a review of fuel poverty definition and target to help us focus our resources where they will be most effective in tackling the underlying causes of fuel poverty
(see http://www.decc.gov.uk/hillsfuelpovertyreview).
We were particularly interested in your slide on the fuel poverty cycle. Part of the brief of the Hills review is to explore and tell us whether we’re measuring fuel poverty in a way that will help us break this cycle.
We also wanted to make you aware of the annual stats on fuel poverty (published on the DECC website, see http://www.decc.gov.uk/en/content/cms/statistics/fuelpov_stats/fuelpov_stats.aspx) – these show that actually most fuel poverty is in the private housing sector rather than the social housing sector.
Thanks once again for sharing this with us.”
Kind regards
Cass
